Reders Write: 65-foot building unacceptable in Port North

The Island Now

As long-time resident, former Trustee, and former Board of Appeals member of Port Washington North, I read with dismay and dread of the proposed plans to build a 65-foot tall building to loom over the Soundview and Mill Pond Acres Homes.

This 65-foot behemoth will aesthetically turn our residential neighborhoods into a commercial zone. Further, it will cause the market value of nearby and all village homes the drastically crash.

It is my suggestion that village residents form a committee to oppose the rezoning of the subject property to allow any structure exceeding the present legal 25 feet.

I would also suggest that this committee explore the funding of legal action against the Village and the developer to halt this disfigurement of our village and damage to its residents.
