The Village of Great Neck Plaza (“the Plaza”) announces the appointment of Deputy Mayor Gerald Schneiderman as its designated representative to, and as a member of the Board of Directors of, the Water Authority of Great Neck North (“the Authority”) to fill the unexpired term of Jean A. Celender, who resigned as a member of the Board of Directors of the Authority in October following her retirement as Mayor of the Plaza in September of this year.

In announcing Schneiderman’s appointment as the Plaza’s designated representative to, and as a member of the Board of Directors of, the Authority, Plaza Mayor Ted Rosen stated, “I am pleased to appoint Deputy Mayor Gerry Schneiderman to serve as the Plaza’s designated representative to, and as a member of the Board of Directors of, the Water Authority of Great Neck North. Deputy Mayor Schneiderman has served the Plaza well for many years, first as Chairperson of the Village’s Zoning Board of Appeals and then as a village trustee. I recently appointed him as a Deputy Mayor of the Plaza to assist in Village governance. I know he will capably and diligently represent the Plaza to the Authority and represent all those who are served by the Water Authority. Mayor Celender served with great distinction as a member of the Board of Directors of the Water Authority and I am confident that Deputy Mayor Schneiderman will follow in her tradition.”

A longtime resident of the Plaza, Schneiderman, has served the village for many years, first as the Chair of the Plaza’s Zoning Board of Appeals and then as a village trustee. Retired as the president of a printing company, Schneiderman lives with his wife, Linda, in the Plaza. Their two grown children attended the Great Neck public schools.

The Water Authority of Great Neck North, established in 1985 as a public benefit corporation, is authorized to provide potable (drinking) water to the northern areas of the Great Neck Peninsula, which encompasses the villages of Great Neck, Great Neck Estates, Kensington, Kings Point, Saddle Rock, portions of Great Neck Plaza and Thomaston, and portions of the unincorporated areas of the Town of North Hempstead. The Board of Directors of the Authority is made up of the designated representatives from each of the seven villages and the Town of North Hempstead in the Authority’s service area.
