Faculty and staff wanted to find a way to recognize the Class of 2020, who have lost so many of the most memorable moments of their senior year due to the current pandemic.

Sponsored by the PTSA, who purchased the senior portrait lawn signs, the event was held to celebrate this year’s graduating class. The PTSA also provided the message upon entrance to the campus, decorated and provided ice pops as a treat as the students exited campus.

The staff, who parked in every other spot in the lot to follow social distancing guidelines, decorated their cars and made signs with positive messages.

Orange and black balloons separated the parking areas and provided additional school spirit.

Advisers of clubs, groups, and activities, along with coaches, honored the seniors by decorating an area and paying homage to them in various ways. Portraits, pictures, artwork, drama costumes, and jerseys were all utilized in the decoration process.

Mr. Paz, a parent of an HFC underclassman, also provided the music that serenaded seniors during their cruise through campus.

Seniors and their families inched their way through campus to enjoy the recognition. In addition to the music, there were car horns, noisemakers, and cheering.

At the culmination of the seniors’ trip through campus, they received a Carey gift bag containing their yearbook, cap and gown, cords, pins, and awards. As students exited the grounds of Carey, they received a salute from Franklin Square’s Munson Fire Department.
