Yes to play albums from the ‘70s

The Island Now

The legendary rock band YES will appear at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Wednesday, July 31 at 8 p.m performing three of their classic albums in their entirety: 1971’s “The Yes Album,” 1972’s “Close To The Edge,” and 1977’s “Going For The One.”  Founded in 1968 by Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, Grammy-award winning recording artists YES have created some of the most important and influential music in rock history, such as iconic pieces “Roundabout,” “Close to the Edge,” “I’ve Seen All Good People,” “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” and countless others. Having sold tens of millions of records over its four-decade career, Yes continues creating masterful music that inspires fans and musicians from around the world.

Due to overwhelming demand – including sold-out shows in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Austin and Toronto- – the iconic and Grammy-winning rock band YES have added two new legs of dates to their triple-header concert tour where they’re performing three of their classic albums in their entirety, all in one concert.

The newly added dates include six shows in Brazil and one each in Chile and Argentina and many North American dates including the NYCB Theatre at Westbury.

The in-progress tour marks the first time since 1973 that YES – bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, keyboardist Geoff Downes and singer Jon Davison – have performed an album onstage in its entirety.

Music audiences are relishing the experience of the three albums – each representing an important milestone in YES’ career which encompasses sales of close to 50 million albums worldwide – performed from beginning to end.

YES and the tour have received critical praise:

“Last night…YES demonstrated why they remain one of the most vaunted and respected musical forces in progressive rock among both fans and players alike…This was a feast for the followers; faithful renditions for the many die hard starship troopers that were no doubt reliving many scrapbook Yes memories over the years. But the show was not about mere nostalgia. This is a band that still feels strangely new, simply by doing what they do…”

–Chris Epting, AOL’s NOISECREEP.COM, 3/7/13 (Orpheum – Los Angeles)

“Effortlessly and powerfully nails even the most skyscraping notes.”

– Ben Wener, ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 3/7/13

“Where other prog-rockers try to be classical musicians, [Steve] Howe delivered an unpretentious blend of jazz, blues, flamenco and folk. The results were often stunning.”

– Thor Christensen, DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 3/22/13

“Yes was fabulous in every musical aspect.” – Anna Blanton, LOUISVILLE.COM, 3/18/13
