Santa Claus at Great Neck House

Join the Great Neck Park District, in cooperation with the Alert Fire Department, at Great Neck House on Sat., Dec. 16, where Santa Claus will arrive at 1 p.m. by fire truck. Photo opps will be available, so have your cameras ready. Children can also bring a wish-list letter for Santa and drop it in his special mailbox.

Take a Hockey Clinic

Hockey clinics will be offered daily over the December school break, 9:15-10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 29 (ages 5+). Full equipment is required to participate. There is a special public skate schedule for the holiday break which can be found on the Park District website, www.gnparks.org. Register online or call (516) 487-2975, Ext. 128.

Early Bird Registration for Camp Parkwood 2018

Interested parents can register their children for Camp Parkwood 2018, before Dec. 31 to receive the early bird discount. Camp Parkwood offers older campers a co-ed travel program and for children ages 4 and up, an optional door-to-door transportation service. Find necessary registration material online at www.gnparks.org or visit Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue. All completed forms must be submitted to Great Neck House by the deadline to receive the discount.

Winter Wonderland

Join the Park District for their Annual Winter Wonderland Celebration, Sunday, Dec. 17, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink. On-Ice performances will begin at 2 p.m. and run through 3 p.m. The whole family can enjoy skating, arts & crafts, photo opportunities, cotton candy and more. For Park District residents, admission is free, with a park card (which must be presented when admitted). Everyone is welcome to attend. Call (516) 487-2976 for more information.

Birthday Parties in the Park District

Interested patrons can book their child’s next celebration with the Park District, whether it’s a skating party at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink (516- 829-4323), or a unique-themed party package at Steppingstone Park (516- 482-0355). Parties include a private party room, two party hosts, invitations, pizza, cake and lots more. Check out the Park District website at www.gnparks.org for more information.

Registration for Skate School

The Skate School at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink is now registering students for session two, featuring skating lessons, classes and a variety of other programs. New students welcome. Don’t delay and sign up today for a program at the rink. Call (516) 487-2976, Ext. 114.

Bruins Fun-damental Hockey Registration

It is never too late to register for the Bruins Fun-damental Hockey program. Children between the ages of 5 & 12 can learn hockey all through the season through drills, special activities scrimmages, games and more. Reduced rate equipment packages are available. Nature Program: Birds, Beach & Botany for Beginners

Saturday, Dec. 9 at 12:30 p.m., join the Park District for a tour of Garvies Point Preserve in Glen Cove. This small preserve is rich in habitats including seashore, pond, field and forest. Binoculars recommended. This program takes place outdoors. Register as soon as possible online www.gnparks.org or call (516) 482-0355. Children under age 16 not permitted to attend.

Defensive Driving Classes at Great Neck House

Great Neck House continues to offer Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving classes on the first Saturday of every month. The next class will be held Saturday, Jan. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To register or for more information, call Great Neck House at (516) 482-0355.

Special Teen Friday Night Recreation

Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink is the “coolest” place in town for teens, every Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. Along with skating, there is special club-like lighting, music, on & off ice activities, and food at the snack bar for purchase, all with adult supervision. Great Neck Park District Election for Commissioner

Great Neck Park District residents vote for Park Commissioner on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 from 1 to 9 p.m. Applications for absentee ballots are currently available at the Administration Office, 5 Beach Road or Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue. The last date to file the application for an absentee ballot to be mailed, is Dec. 5. For those residents that voted at Baker Hill School in the past, the polling place is now at Great Neck House. Camp Parkwood Winter Season

During the December holiday break, Tuesday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Dec. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., children in grades K-6, can experience programs at Parkwood Tennis Center and the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink. The children are grouped by age

December Holiday Tennis Camp

Over the December holiday break, Tuesday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Dec. 29, 12 to 4 p.m., children ages 6-17, can spend their time at Parkwood Tennis Center honing their tennis skills. Interested patrons can register online www.gnparks.org or call (516) 829-9050 for more information. Residents, $80 per day; non-residents, $94 per day. Register for one day or all four.
