St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the Rink

Join us at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink for a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Saturday, March 17, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Residents with a current park card, wear green and enter free. Everyone else, wear green and get $1 off the admission price. Enjoy on and off-ice activities, cotton candy, arts & crafts and more.

Great Neck Park District Job Fair 2018

Attend the Park District Job Fair, Monday, March 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue. You will find many seasonal/part-time jobs available throughout the Park District including Parkwood Pool, Indoor/Outdoor Tennis, Camps/Pre-school, Recreation, Marina/Sailing Director, Summer Performing Arts, Parks, Security, Office/Clerical. Pick-up an application, schedule an interview or have one on-the-spot. Everyone over the age of 16, with a wide range of schedules, is welcome to apply. Nature Program: Birds, Beach and Botany for Beginners

Sunday, March 11, 12:30 p.m., tour Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove with us. This is a small county preserve which is rich in habitats including seashore, pond, field and forest. Bring binoculars. Weekend Movie at Great Neck House

The award winning film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), directed by Martin McDonagh and starring Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell is playing at Great Neck House, Friday, March 16 at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 17, at 5 and 8 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 18 at 7:30 p .m. A mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter’s murder when they fail to catch the culprit. It is rated R and runs 1 hour 55 minutes. Admission to Great Neck House requires a park card.

Sunday @ 2: Marcie Passley Duo

Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m., Marcie Passley returns to Great Neck House to perform Broadway, jazz and operatic standards. Admission to Great Neck House requires a park card.

Co-Ed Lacrosse

Beginning Thursday, April 19 and running for 8 weeks, our new lacrosse program introduces children, ages 3 to 12, to this fast-growing sport. Experienced coaches promote commitment and teamwork, while teaching the fundamentals of lacrosse. Skills and techniques are focused on to prepare players for the next level. The program is run in conjunction with U.S. Sports Institute at Memorial Field from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Children are grouped by age (3-5 & 6-12). Register online www.grnparks.org or call (516) 482-0355.

Total Sports Squirts

Great Neck Park District and U.S. Sports Institute are teaming up this spring. They are offering 8-week Sports Squirts programs for ages 2-5. Included are Parent & Me Sports Squirts, Soccer Squirts, Squirts, Multi Sports and Squirts T-Ball. Join the Park District beginning the week of April 15 at Memorial Field. Pro Shop Under New Management

The pro shop at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink, Parkwood Pro Shop, is under new management and open for business. Open year round, the pro shop provides professional skate sharpening as well as select accessories/items for skating and swimming. Regular shop hours run Monday through Friday, 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop hours are subject to change.
