Blood Drive

The library will be hosting a blood drive through Long Island Blood Services. You may register at the reference desk, call 516-746-8488 ext. 2. or through the online portal: www.donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/267894. Walk-ins are welcome, too.

Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption Event

12 to 3 p.m.
The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will be here with adoptable pets. They will be accepting donations for ths shelter: cat toys, Nylabones, Kongs, bedding, Yesterday’s News cat litter, newspaper, unopened jarred baby food (chicken or turkey only), cat treats, pet diapers, Whimzees (at least 6″), puzzle toys for cats or dogs, non-retractable leashes, animal nail clippers, and shoe boxes. This event will take place outside on the library lawn.

Friends of the Library Fundraiser: Win American Girl Tenney Grant or Melody Ellison
Saturday, June 1 through Aug. 10
The Friends will be raffling off two American Girl dolls so the Library can start a circulating Wilton cake pan collection. Raffle tickets will be sold at the children’s desk June 1 to Aug. 10 when the winners will be drawn (winner need not be present). Raffles will be sold for $1 each or six tickets for $5. Exact cash only; no checks or credit card.

Grindhouse Radio presents Podcasting & Radio Broadcasting
Thursday, June 6

Women’s Self Defense

This safety and self-defense class, taught by Grand Master Gene Perceval, is specifically designed for women to learn how to handle sexual assault. The class covers traditional martial arts techniques and advocates for a world focused on respect, harmony, inspiration, and calmness of mind.
