Monday, July 29 at 7 p.m.; Concert in the Park: Just Sixties Performs The Road to Woodstock: Hear the USA’s longest running ’60s tribute, Just Sixties, perform a tribute celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Concert will be held in the Mineola Memorial Park Amphitheater. In the case of inclement weather, it will be held in the library’s community room.

Adult programs

Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 1:45 p.m.; Classics & Conversation Film Series: “So You Wanna Be a Star?” Join Adam Simms for the second film in a series that runs on select Thursdays through December. Call the Mineola Library at 516-746-8488 ext. 2 or visit the library’s website at www.mineolalibrary.info to find out which film he will be screening and discussing.

Saturday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.; Solar Telescope Workshop presented by the Vanderbilt Museum: Gain a basic understanding of how the sun works and learn about the importance of scientific inquiry. Go outside to view the sun directly using a solar telescope. Register at the reference desk or call 516-746-8488 ext. 2.

Children’s programs

Monday, July 29 at 4 p.m.; Family program (with children of all ages) – Dog Days of Summer: Make homemade dog toys for homeless dogs: Bring a clean, adult-sized t shirt. Work together to create a dog toy using a t-shirt and tennis ball. Toys will be donated to a local shelter. Register in the children’s room or call 516-746-8488 ext. 1.

Friday, Aug. 2 at 4 p.m.; Grades 1 and up – “Make a Wish” shooting star and unicorn bag:
Color in your own unicorn bags with happy rainbows and shooting stars. Register in the children’s room or call 516-746-8488 ext. 1.
