PROGRAMS and EVENTS
A Gathering of Ghosts! – Virtual Program
Friday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Scary stories ahead! Professional magician, psychic, and ghost hunter Ron Cain sheds light on famous hauntings and spooky places. Hear ghostly tales from around the world and around the block. Learn about the six types of hauntings, how spirits manifest themselves, and why they come back. Develop ghost hunting skills as you learn how to investigate haunted places. Information sheets will be made available to participants.

Give Me Shelter Project Adoption Event – Location: All-Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Saturday, October 16, 10 am – 2 pm. Meet your new best friend at the library! Join the Hillside Public Library and the Give Me Shelter Project for a fun cat adoption event! Stop by the library and visit with all the wonderful animals available for adoption. Donations of pet food and supplies are welcome!

I Don’t See So Well! (Vision in Older Adults) – Virtual Program Tuesday, October 19 at 11 am. Better Health & Wellness Series Presented by Assemblyman Ed Ra & Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health. *Please call Assemblyman Ra’s district office at (516) 535-4095 to register. Virtual Physician Lecture: Hearing and Hearing Disturbances – Virtual Program Tuesday, October 19 at 12 noon. During this program, Dr. Maja Svrakic, board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, of Northwell Health will discuss topics related to hearing loss and treatment options. *This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.*

Fiction Loves History Book Club – Location: All-Purpose Room, 2nd Floor
Tuesday, October 19 at 2 pm. The book being discussed is: The Enchantress of Numbers by Jennifer Chiaverini “New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Chiaverini illuminates the life of Ada Byron King, Countess of Lovelace—Lord Byron’s daughter and the world’s first computer programmer.”
This program will take place both in person and virtual.

The Job Whisperer – Virtual Program
Tuesday, October 19 at 6:30 pm. Job Seekers: Join the Job Whisperer lectures to find out how to land the perfect job. Find out the best interview answers, how to write the perfect cover letter, where to find jobs that nobody knows about, what to say on your thank you note that is going to get noticed, and how to negotiate for a better salary. Virtual Physician Lecture: Ophthalmology & You! – Virtual Program
Wednesday, October 20 at 12 noon. Associate Professor and Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Northwell Health, Dr. Pomeranz presents an informative lecture discussing common issues affecting the eyes including: blurred vision due to needing glasses or contact lenses, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetes. Book Discussion: Mystery Book Club – Location: All-Purpose Room, 2nd Floor Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30 pm. The book being discussed is: Final Girls by Riley Sager“A cleverly devised, expertly written psychological thriller.”,This program will take place both in person and virtual.

Art with Alma! Three Pumpkins – Virtual Program
Friday, October 22 at 7 pm. Paint Night! Sketching and Acrylics
Supplies: Canvas or paint/watercolor paper, 12×16 in., yet any other size can work too. Acrylic Paints: red, blue, yellow, white and black.3 different sized brushes: A very fine one for details (pointed round 5), a medium (flat or angle) and a larger (flash wash 3/4) one for the background. Tools: A cup with water, paper towel, mixing plastic pallet (can be a paper plate)

YA Art Club (Outdoor- Parking Lot)
Friday, October 15 at 4:30 pm. Grades 5 – 12. YA Art Club is back! Join Ms. A outside under our tent to make a unique art project.

Time for Kids- Pumpkin Fun (Outside Parking Lot) Tuesday, October 19 at 4:30 pm. Ages: 3 years- 7 years (with parent/caregiver).Come join A Time for Kids, Inc. as we get ready for Fall and celebrate with lots of pumpkin fun! Activities include music, movement, fine and gross motor development and storytelling. There will be a Pumpkin Craft!

Halloween Balloon Workshop! (Outdoor- Parking Lot) Wednesday, October 20 at 4:30 pm. Grades: 1-4 (with parent/caregiver).Learn how to twist, tie, and shape balloons into a Halloween Spectacular!

Play Hooray (Outside- Parking Lot)
Friday, October 22 at 10:30 am. Ages: 18 months & Up (with parent/caregiver). Stories, music, and movement activities with Mollie the Mouse.
