Two mayor seats and eight trustee seats in villages across the Port Washington area will be up for grabs on Election Day, Tuesday, March 16.

Absent from the list are the villages of Sands Point, which will not hold elections this year, and Manorhaven, which holds its elections in June.

Challengers will be able to file petitions for candidacy in village elections by the end of the day on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

PORT WASHINGTON NORTH

Mayor Robert Weitzner and Trustees Sherman Scheff and Matthew Kepke are seeking to keep their seats for another two-year term apiece. No challengers have been named yet.

BAXTER ESTATES

Mayor Nora Haagenson, Deputy Mayor Charles Comer and Trustee Christopher Ficalora are up for re-election to two-year terms. No challengers have been named yet.

FLOWER HILL

Trustees Frank Genese, seeking a third term, and Mary Jo Collins, seeking a first full term after serving the rest of Mayor Brian Herrington’s term as a trustee, will run for re-election to their two-year seats. Trustee Claire Dorfman, who was appointed last November after the late Mayor Robert McNamara was elected a trustee, is seeking a one-year term. No challengers have been named yet.

Notably not seeking re-election is two-term Trustee Jay Beber. A resident of the village’s Roslyn area, he has served for four years. Efforts to reach him for comment were unavailing.
