Saddle Rock gets funds for signs

The Nassau County Legislature voted last week to provide $40,000 to the Village of Saddle Rock to buy and install new street signs in the village.

Nassau County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) worked with the Nassau County Executive’s Office and the village to push for the funding, according to a release from Birnbaum’s office.

The Legislature approved the request Jan. 26 as part of an inter- municipal agreement between the county and the village, the release said.

“I am glad that the Village of Saddle Rock will receive funds which will be used to replace old faded street signs with larger more visible signs attached to new poles,” Birnbaum said.

The funding is intended to help make street signs more visible to emergency vehicles in the village.

The county agreed in November to give $30,000 each to the villages of Kensington and Great Neck Estates to help improve street signs and streetscapes.
