Arbor Day Family Festival

Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This weekend event, co-hosted by Planting Fields Foundation and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, includes face painting, circus acts, caricaturists, tree seedling giveaways, a petting zoo, live music, an appearance by Smokey Bear and more.  $20 per vehicle.

Dream is a Wish Princess Tea and Concert

Saturday, April 28 at 11:15 a.m., 2:15 and 5:15 p.m.

The enchanting concert, A Dream is a Wish, returns to the Madison Theatre, with new adventures and Disney classics in which children can sing along to all their favorite Disney songs, such as “Let It Go,” “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “A Whole New World,” “I See The Light” and many more.  There is a limited number of Breakfast and Tea tickets that accompany the performance.

Think Up! Old Westbury Whodunits: Bewildering Birds

Saturday, April 28, 12 to 1 p.m.

Children ages 8 and up will investigate the wonders of nature and history’s mysteries.  Fact-finding hunts through Westbury House and gardens will help to uncover clues and solve riddles. The event is free with admission.

Create a Butterfly Feeder and Family Butterfly Day

Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, 1 to 5 p.m. (Maritime Explorium) and Sunday, April 29, 2 to 4 p.m. (Sands Point Preserve Conservancy)

Kids can create a butterfly feeder using recycled Keurig cups while they explore various species of butterflies at the Maritime Explorium.  Over the same weekend, the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy invites families to venture into their immersive, live butterfly exhibit in Hempstead House, which features more than 120 exotic butterflies and an indoor tropical garden.

Cherry Blossom Trees

Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m.

In Japanese culture, delicate cherry blossoms signify the fragility and beauty of life. During early spring, these breathtaking blooms can be admired in many areas across the U.S. At this workshop, children ages 5 and up can create cherry blossom branches using tissue paper and natural materials to admire all year long.  $4 with museum admission; $3 LICM members.
