Rabbi Jerry Blum will host a discussion on the sixth commandment at Temple Isaiah’s Shavuot program on June 8th.

On Saturday, June 8, after sundown, Jews around the world will celebrate the holiday of Shavuot, which commemorates the giving of the Torah. That evening, Temple Isaiah will host a unique Shavuot program beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The program will open with a musical service. Following the service there will be a provocative learning session built around the sixth commandment: Thou Shalt Not Murder. Rabbi Jerry Blum, clinical social worker Micki Victor and attorney Martin Marshak will share their views on this commandment, and there will be time for a Q&A. Following the program, in keeping with the tradition of eating dairy on Shavuot, there will be a cheesecake reception.

Temple Isiah is located at One Chelsea Place, off Cutter Mill Road, in Great Neck. The congregation welcomes members of the community to join this celebration. For more information, contact the Temple office at 516-487-5373.
