Herricks High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society organized another unforgettable season of Herricks Idol, a music singing competition inspired by the popular show, “American Idol.” Based on the theme, “The Greatest Showman,” the auditorium was intricately decorated with stars, lights, balloons and streamers.

The executive board sold wristbands as tickets, with the funds going to Give a Note Foundation and Midori and Friends charities.

This year’s contestants were Justin Cheung, Lawson Everitt, Mehakpreet Kaur, Andrew Kim, Talia Kohan, Shazmin Lakhani, Angie Lee, Duhan Lee, Savannah Mehran and Christopher Soo. Each participant was judged by Herricks High School Principal Joan Keegan, alumna Natalie Fabian and alumna Susan Askinazy who was Tri-M President for the very first Herricks Idol in 2005.

Lawson Everitt, Andrew Kim, Shazmin Lakhani, and Savannah Mehran were selected as finalists.

After singing longer versions of their songs and hearing guest performances from past winners and Ms. Fabian, Lawson and Shazmin were announced as the winners of the 15th season of Herricks Idol. The night ended with a fitting group song, “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman.” The district congratulates all the contestants for braving the stage.
