Hofstra University’s annual fall celebration of the tuba continues this year. There will be solo performances of the instrument by both students and faculty. Additionally, there will be a performance by Hofstra-Tuba Euphonium Ensemble. Admission to the event, which will be held at the Helene Fortunoff Theater in the Monroe Lecture Center, is free.

Pumpkinfest Craft Brew Weekends
Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Riverhead’s Garden of Eve organic farm will have a pumpkin-picking field and craft beer tastings. Kids can enjoy themselves through activities like pumpkin-picking, hay rides and seeing farm animals. Those 21 and older will have access to the farm brewery, which will be offering craft beer tastings and cups of beer from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Local wine will also be available for purchase by the bottle. Admission to the event is $7.95 per person, but those who pre-purchase tickets online would only have to pay $5.

5th Annual Suffolk County Marathon and Freedom Fest Taste of Long Island Festival
Saturday, Oct. 26-Sunday, Oct. 27, 8 a.m.
Among the marathons that participants may run in are a 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon through Patchogue. There will be several forms of entertainment once the races are finished, including live music, food and craft beers. Prices to participate range from $20 to $30 for the 5K, $30 to $50 for the 10K, $40 to $80 for the half-marathon and $50 to $90 for the marathon.

Spring Awakening

An adult-oriented musical, “Spring Awakening” is set in 1891 Germany and explores adulthood, morality, sexuality and the emotional journey from adolescence to adulthood. The play has a punk-rock score and celebrates rebellion while also examining self-discovery and anxiety for those coming of age.

Paint Nite: Whimsical Pumpkins
Monday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m.
Wantaugh’s Tavolo Kitchen will be hosting a painting class. Attendees will be guided and entertained by an artist as they’re tasked with making their own creative works of art. Interaction between fellow aspiring artists is encouraged at the event. Tickets to the event are $35 per person.

Other People’s Parties

The exhibit attempts to call attention to the highs and lows of our most social occasions through photographs of people socializing with each other. The photographers’ goal is to investigate the human impulse to capture party moments through photography and our desire to live vicariously through images of others. Among the artists’ works being shown are those of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Larry Fink, Danny Lyon, Mary Ellen Mark and Andy Warhol.

Business Expo 2019
