Roslyn athletes honored as Nassau County champs

Roslyn High School senior Orry Zayit is the Nassau County champion in swimming in the 200 Individual Medley with a personal best time of 1:53.08.

He advances to the state championship at Nassau County Aquatic Center on March 2.

Zayit and junior Ronshekher Basak also qualified for the state championship in the 200 Medley Relay, along with two other members of the combined Roslyn and Port Washington swimming team. The boys’ swimming team is coached by Joe Lennon and Matthew Carrazzo.

In winter track, junior Jack Waldman, senior Ryan Chen, junior Taylor Diamond and senior Nick Leong are the Class B County Champion 4×4 team. They set a new school record for the 4×4 with a time of 3:39.31. The boys’ winter track team is coached by Kristen Hamilton and Mark Valentino.

And in the pole vault, Roslyn High School senior Daniel Rutcofsky was best in the county and also set a school record at 10′ 6″. He will advance to the Long Island Elite Meet tomorrow at St. Anthony’s High School.
