Revised dates for Port Outdoors Dine & Shop

The Island Now

The Port Washington BID and Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, organizers of Port Outdoors Dine and Shop, have had to reschedule the Thursday events due to bad weather on two occasions. The event creates traffic-free pedestrian malls in two zones, allowing people to dine outside and shop outside while maintaining social distancing. One area is at Port Commons and on upper Main Street from Port Washington Blvd. to Belleview Avenue. The second area is on middle and lower Main Street from Central Drive to Shore Road. Landmark on Main Street has organized entertainment on the street for all Port Outdoors events.

Both rain-outs were on the dates scheduled for the first zone. The organizers have therefore shifted the dates for future events in order to provide equal opportunities for both zones. The new schedule is as follows:

Upper Main Street/Port Commons (from Port Blvd to Belleview) on Sept. 17 & Oct. 1

Middle & Lower Main Street (from Central Drive to Shore Road) on Sept. 24

Oct. 8 will be on reserve for a rain date if either zone needs one.

Even when the event is rained out, the organizers want everyone to be aware that while the street may not be closed off, businesses are still open. You can still order take out, shop at your favorite store, bring home flowers, schedule a massage/hair cut/manicure. We can all still Lift Up Local.

Port Outdoors is also made possible by the Town of North Hempstead, Event Sponsor Precision Work, and Supporting Sponsor Residents Forward. For more information, you can contact either the BID at gpwbid@optonline.net or the Chamber at office@pwcoc.org.
