Reardership: An offer for ‘fresh blood’ on Port school board

The Island Now

When I look around I see exasperated parents trying to balance social-distancing, working from home and remote learning with their children.  And I see the school district providing 45 minutes a week of “teaching” while private schools, religious schools and even pre-schools provide 10 times as much.

The others running for board are part of the district leadership and somehow think the district, is doing a great job as does the entire board.

I will be an independent voice for the students of this district. I have two young children in the district and one entering kindergarten in the fall.

A vote for me is a vote for an independent voice, otherwise there will be seven very similar voices continuing business as usual as the rest of the community faces a pandemic.

The school closure has exposed a Board that is out of touch with the community it serves.  Port Washington needs fresh blood.
