I want to urge state Sen. Anna Kaplan to vote to overturn the regressive and unfair pretrial system that incarcerates tens of thousands who have not been convicted of any crime.

Those who are economically able can pay the bail. If you are poor you are imprisoned. Is it moral to punish poverty? Bail reform is absolutely necessary.

It is important to guarantee an accused person a speedy trial and for their attorneys access to all evidence.

All people regardless of race, religion, education or social position are entitled to equal treatment from our justice system.
