In response to Dr. Hal Sobel’s letter, “The truth about socialism in America,” I quote Winston Churchill: “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery,” and Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”
Bernie Sanders’ use of the word democratic as a prefix to the word socialist or so called liberal’s use of the term progressive do not fool those who understand the reality of what is being propagated.
It is true we live in a country where millionaires like the Kennedys, the Bushes and Trumps find it easy to get the nomination of their parties. However, it is the same country where people like Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama can become president.
I am sure Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Castro read and understood Karl Marx. The fatal results of which are well documented.
As for the current thinking of Alexander Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren, who herself represents hard left liberal arts professors at our institutions of higher learning, try sharing their Marxist ideology with Howard Schultz and Michael Bloomberg, who built their own wealth in our country.
