Readers Write: In Support of Trustee Pamela Marksheid

The Island Now

I am writing this in support of the re-election of Pam Marksheid as a trustee of the Village of Great Neck Plaza.

Having lived in the Plaza for over 25  years, I have witnessed her devotion and hard work to make this Village a desirable place to live.  One area that concerned me as well as many members of the community was when the Station Branch of the library planned to leave the current location and go to another village.

Pam Marksheid organized a petition that contained over 300 signatures against this move. My neighbors and I gladly signed this petition that she presented to the Library’s Board of Directors. When I asked her about the status of the move, she informed me that she attended many of the meetings at the main library and spoke on the behalf of the Plaza residents to keep it at the Garden’s shopping center.

Pam Marksheid fought for those residents of the Atria Senior Living on Great Neck Road who were able to walk to the Library, many of whom no longer owned cars.  She has also fought for the safety of the residents.  She attended the rally against the closing of the sixth police precinct as well as the grand re-opening.

Her devotion is evident to making the Plaza a wonderful place to live with her help in organizing the very first Restaurant Week in the Plaza as well as taking part weekly in our wonderful summer concerts that take place in our Firefighter’s Park.

She is involved in many of the committees that make the Plaza a special place, two being the Historic Preservation Commission and the Climate Smart Communities. I know she does not take her position of trustee lightly, attending all the ribbon-cuttings and welcoming new businesses to the Plaza as well as spreading the word about them. We need Pam Marksheid to continue as a trustee of Great Neck Plaza. Please Vote for her on March 18.

It is very important for all residents to get out and vote and assure the continuation of her diligence, extremely hard work, her knowledge, and concern for our Plaza and her ability to recognize issues, address them and to use her expertise and familiarity with “all things VGNP.”

She is smart, concerned and listens. It is essential that she remains in her position to continue her devotion and tenacity in improving things that need improvement and continuing all the good that exists.
