While reading the Herald Courier’s Dec. 5 article on the contest for the New Hyde Park Fire District Commissioner position between John Walden and Ernest Gentile, I could not help but to be impressed with both of them.
In this truly graceless age we now live in, it is a pleasure indeed to see two men allowing their visions and ideas to be the only focal point of the election. With their mutual respect, and with both men exhibiting integrity and fairness in their competition for the position of fire commissioner, leads me to believe that regardless of which man wins, we, the residents of New Hyde Park, will have come out on top.
