Reach Out America December Meeting with Guest Speaker Natanya Briendel

Reach Out America’s December monthly meeting focusing on immigration could not have been timelier.

The guest speaker was Natanya Briendel, director of the Westchester Division at Pace Women’s Justice Center, adjunct professor of Constitutional Law/Criminal Justice at Mercy College and a former prosecutor with the New York City Human Resources Administration and the New York City Law Department.

She described the personal experiences of abused women, children and others, both undocumented and legal residents, who, as a result of recent statutory changes, live without the protections of due process and in constant fear of deportation; she provided information on how the assembled could become informed and active and help our vulnerable neighbors.

Reach Out America meets at 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday every month at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 48 Shelter Rock Road in Manhasset.
