State Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso worked with a group of volunteers from Rebuilding Together Long Island, Sears and the management team from the Long Island Nets to build a wheelchair ramp for a VFW Hall in Port Washington.
“I am honored to have had the opportunity to help the veterans who have served our country,” said D’Urso. “Building this ramp was a small gesture to show my appreciation for the veterans who have given so much to protect our freedom.”
Rebuilding Together has received over $21 million from the Heroes at Home program, which was used to help more than 14,250 veterans. They are partnered with the Sears’ Heroes at Home program and have completed almost 1,700 rebuilding projects.
Every year many thousands of volunteers have worked with Rebuilding Together, providing free home repairs and improvements for low-income people, older adults, people with disabilities, military veterans and families in need.
