New Hyde Park students honored for essays and art

Five students from New Hyde Park Memorial High School received recognition in the Freedom to Read Essay and Art Contest.

For essays from students aged 16 to 18, Emily Yuan won for “Mulan,” Andrea Bouzos was a finalist for “The Sun and Her Flowers,” and Joana Thomas was honored for “Harry Potter Series.”

For art from students aged 16 to 18, Katie Gutierrez was a finalist for “The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn,” and Chesca Turingan was a finalist for “Spirited Away.”
