New Hyde Park Sabercats claw E. Meadow

The Island Now

Trainer Rich Baroniunas made a special appearance at the New Hyde Park BU10 Sabercats’ season finale, and he liked what he saw.  The Sabercats immediately pressured East Meadow, with midfielders Ivan Vidaich, Akash Reddy and Justin Lee assisting on defense, maneuvering the ball upfield, and finding open strikers.

The cheering crowd witnessed yet another dominant display of Sabercats’ defense.  All game long, the stingy defensive unit lead by Jake Blancher, Devon Roth, and Eoin Atlagh denied the opponent’s attempts. They broke up passes and cleared the ball out of Sabercat territory.

Displaying a number of impressive stops, the exceptional goalkeeping by Kevin Walsh and Matthew Bartos ensured that East Meadow did not score a single goal.

The offense executed a balanced attack, with three different strikers-Matt O’Leary, Tomas Demaria, and Samir Sakaria-all scoring goals.  They moved the ball skillfully and played together as a team. The result spoke for itself – the Sabercats won 4-0!

It was a truly a fitting end for a season marked by hard work, fun, and camaraderie.  The boys can’t wait until next season.  Go Sabercats!
