NEFCU hosts ‘Season of Giving’

The Island Now

As the Holiday season approaches, NEFCU, a credit union serving all across Long Island, is keeping with the spirit of the season and giving back to its communities with “A Season of Giving Charity Donations” contest for the third year in a row.

People who “like” the NEFCU Facebook page can nominate and then vote for their chosen charity.

The organization with the most votes will receive a $2,500 charitable contribution from NEFCU.

The second most frequently voted charity will receive $1,500, and the third will receive $1,000. All nominated charities must meet NEFCU’s community criteria.

The contest began on Monday and nominations must be made by 5 p.m. on Dec. 2. Voting will end at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13.

“NEFCU has a proud 75-year history of giving back to the communities we serve and we are pleased to donate $5,000 to local Long Island charities once again this holiday season,” said Valerie Garguilo, vice president of marketing and community relations for NEFCU. “There are so many deserving organizations making a positive difference for the Long Island community.

“This contest gives those who benefit and support these charities the chance to give back and say thank you for all they do to make Long Island a better place to live,” she added

The winners of the “A Season of Giving Charity Donations” contest will be announced Dec. 20 on the NEFCU Facebook page.

Past winners include Angela’s House, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, AHRC Nassau and the Seatuck Environmental Association.
