Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres vs. Reva Energy Royals.  The Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres made their initial 2013 visit to Field #2 to face their old rivals the Reva Energy Royals on Sunday.  They quickly learned that Field #2 is a pitcher’s ballpark and the Royals play great defense.  The latter was brought to light immediately as hot-hitting Padre leadoff man Michael O’Grady scorched a ball at the Royal second baseman who routinely gloved it and threw to first for the out.

Dr. Barbaro Podiatry’s boys could not be shut down entirely, however.  Thomas Vieni had a 3-for-3 afternoon with an RBI.  Ben Harnick was also perfect at the plate, getting hits in both his at bats.  Trevor Boshnack drove in two runs and power hitting Stephen Lopez added a double (and would’ve had a second if not for the stingy Royal defense).  Chris Erxleben and Hunter Dunn contributed with big, clutch hits as well.

After watching the web gems displayed by their opponents throughout the game, the Padres decided to show what they could do.  Anthony Strocchia and Jake Gruosso were flawless in the field, but the defensive highlight of the game belonged to Mr. Stephen Coffey with his unassisted triple play to squash a bases-loaded Royal rally in the second inning.  A great effort by Dr. Barbaro Podiatry’s Padres all around.  Keep swinging that lumber (sorry, tin) boys and those hits will drop.

City Line Florist Cubs vs. Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres. Dark clouds and heavy rains throughout the day had the Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres take the field with a split squad for their match-up against the City Line Florist Cubs Wednesday night.  No matter how many players they had, they were chomping at the bit to get the offense rolling again.  The one-two batters in the Padre lineup, the two-headed Stephen monster of Lopez and Coffey, went a combined 12-for-12 and drove in three runs.  Harekam Singh and Jake Gruosso combined to get 10 hits in 10 trips to the plate and combined for seven RBIs.  Thomas Vieni joined the fray by contributing five hits.

On defense, Dr. Barbaro Podiatry’s group was flawless, with standout plays being turned in by Christian Thomas, Hunter Dunn, and Michael O’Grady.  Another game, another outstanding Padre effort.  So good, in fact, that the Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padre front office is contemplating having it rain before every remaining game in hopes that it produces similar results.

Cellini Lodge Twins vs. Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres.  The Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres continued their 2013 campaign with a rematch against the Cellini Lodge Twins Friday night.  Despite sunny skies throughout the day, the Padre free-swinging offensive machine kept plugging along.  Chris Erxleben, Christian Thomas, Harekam Singh and Jake Gruosso combined for a 14-or-14 evening with seven RBIs.  Michael O’Grady and Stephen Coffey each contributed three hits and knocked in two runs apiece.  Julian Dewitte and Thomas Vieni added six hits and drove in twp more.  Hunter Dunn had a big night with two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.

In the field, Trevor Boshnack, Ben Harnick, and Stephen Lopez all turned in standout performances, helping to keep the team in the game.  The Dr. Barbaro Podiatry Padres will enjoy a well-deserved break in the schedule and resume play next week.
