NHP Express beats Braves for 10U title

The Island Now

In a showdown between the top two teams in the division, the New Hyde Park Express outlasted the Long Island Gators for the NJBL 10U championship.

The Express reached the finals after a 14-2 regular season and then defeated the Long Island Braves in a thrilling come from behind 5-4 victory.

The pitching staff was anchored by Mike Lisojo, Conor Jacoby, Thomas Donnelly, Adrian Puran, Marty Koch and Paul Orbon. Michael Farrell also chipped in with a complete game against the Syosset Braves.

Consistent hitting with several multi-hit games by Tyrell Robinson, Orbon, Lisojo and Mike Sokol led a balanced attack that used power, aggressive base running and timely sacrifice bunts by Joe Tomich, Timmy Brendel and Donnelly. Nick Duras did an outstanding job handling the pitching staff, throwing out runners and provide solid defense up the middle as the team continued to improve defensively throughout the year.

Best of Luck for the upcoming Labor Day tournament as well as the fall NJBL season!

We are so proud of all of you!
