Manhasset resident joins top orthopedic medicine group

Dr. Charles Ruotolo, founder of Total Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, recently announced that Dr. Richard McCormack, an accomplished sports medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon, will be part of the medical team at the practice’s new Syosset facility.

“Our patients will benefit from his outstanding professional credentials and extensive experience,” said Ruotolo.

McCormack graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry. He went on to receive a combined M.D./M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He graduated with high honors from the school’s Booth School of Business and was also elected to the medical school’s Gold Humanism Honor Society. His professional credentials include an orthopedic residency at New York University’s Hospital for Joint Diseases. While completing a sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital, he was the assistant team physician for the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hunter College and the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

A Manhasset resident, Dr. McCormack is an avid researcher. His findings on a variety of orthopedic topics have appeared in numerous professional journals. He has also been a presenter at numerous local and national specialty conferences. An active professional, he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopic Association of North America and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.
