On Sunday, June 23, the League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset will honor Julie Meer Harnick at its annual Spring Garden Party.

Harnick is currently the president of the local League and has been for several years.

She has been a member of the League for about 20 years, having joined in 1999. Upon joining, she served as its treasurer for six years and chaired the Audit Committee.

In addition to the League, Harnick is also the executive director of the Community Chest of Port Washington.

She has worked in the nonprofit field for 30 years and has a background in accounting and operations.

Her dedication to the people of Port Washington is evidenced by previous years of volunteer service at the Parent Resource Center, the PiT (Teen Center) and the Ed. Foundation.

She was the treasurer of the Parent Resource Center for six years, and the president and treasurer of the PiT for five years. Harnick was on the steering committee that formed the Ed. Foundation and served as its first treasurer.

Firmly committed to helping others through education, engagement and aid, Harnick is the co-founder of “PORT Nonprofit” a coalition that promotes collaboration among the many nonprofit organizations in Port Washington.

In 2017, the Town of North Hempstead inducted her into the Women’s Roll of Honor.

Harnick is a proud Brooklyn native and a graduate of Williams College. She has a Masters in Accounting from New York University. In her spare time, she can be found cooking, quilting, antiquing or hiking with her dog in the Adirondack Mountains.

Always leading with her heart, Harnick said she believes that she will continue to use her skills to devote her life to the service of others.

Tickets for the Spring Garden Party—held on Sunday, June 23, at 5 p.m. at the Village Club of Sands Point—are $85. RSVP and purchase tickets online at https://lwvgarden.bpt.me. Contact Michele Lamberti for more information at 917-270-1340.
