The Lake Success Board of Trustees approved a bond resolution Monday for $24,000 to repair a sinkhole near the village Community Center’s pond.

The board said it has contracted a split agreement to repair the sinkhole.

Earth Repair will conduct the invasive pipelining and camerawork needed for the sinkhole which will cost approximately $8,000.

Orchidsore will then begin a 60-feet of pipe replacement, expected to cost approximately $15,000.

“It’s cheaper for one [company] to do one job, and the other to do the other [part],” Trustee and Golf Commissioner Adam Hoffman said. “This will be the 16th sinkhole [in the village] to be repaired within the last few years,” he added.

The week-long project will launch this Thursday, and is expected to cost almost $24,000.

Other possible projects the board said it was considering include the repainting and resurfacing of basketball courts and the general renovation of the softball courts.

Century Tennis will be considered as a potential vendor to run the repairs, but the project has been tabled until April’s board meeting.

Four of the grounds’ red clay tennis courts are in need of repair, as the “sprinklers are deteriorating,” Trustee David Milner said.

Each court will cost approximately $8,200, with the projected total to be $32,000.

The board said it would revisit the project once the village obtains various bids from vendors over the months, as the project cannot begin in cooler temperatures.

In addition to the physical changes, the board voted to approve a contract for a full-time laborer for the Golf Course, which is currently pending Civil Service Approval.

“It’s a little more expensive than two part-time positions, but it’ll be better in the long run,” Hoffman said.

The board said it would consult the Parks Committee for other immediate repairs or changes, as needed.
