Long ago I saw a movie and if I remember correctly, Mozart was traveling to Prague by horse drawn coach in the dead of Winter. Mozart himself in the coach had a degree of comfort though the teamster outside was exposed to the elements as was the horse of course.
As bad as that was there was also the risk of being waylaid by robbers.
In those days there had to be many who would scrounge for sticks and twigs to make a fire for some hot food and have some warmth.
Humanity is hardy and has survived through the centuries without having a pharmacy on every corner. The easy life and pigging out on everything now is the cause of much illness. This is partly why Medicare is becoming depleted. The medical profession et al. thrives on this and Medicare is seen as a piggy bank for fraud. Of course less need for medical care would cost jobs but in this case, good!
Back in those days a man could say “I, my father and my sons are shoemakers. My grand and great grand fathers were and my grand sons will be shoemakers.” No doubt techniques and quality developed through the generations. Times have changed. I still remember a Father and Son shoe store but it is now gone. As times changed the industrial revolution came and the job was invented. The acceleration of things from the cave man weren’t noticeable though now it can’t be missed. Even jobs are beginning to become obsolete.
The reason for teacher evaluation is that in one lifetime, teachers resting on their laurels don’t cut it anymore. The reasons why are obvious.
We are not sure what the future will bring or how quickly but we we know it is coming.
Referring to the horse above, numerous animals have earned their way by service and hard work. There is no need to begin mentioning all the things the horse has done but the horse is not needed much anymore. It is a highly intelligent animal and if there are a few jobs left for it such as parading tourist around Central Park, I say let them have them. They earned them.
It is horse’s heaven and the horse knows. Being that the horse sees things few humans do, It can be spooked at times. It is similar to when a dog barks for things we do not see. Spooks be! One walking along the rock wall on Central Park South can sense it and it is deep. The human race is developing too.
This past presidential election was very important as it is a break with the past and opens the door to the future. The dark forces did the uppermost to defeat it by enlisting the support of those who keep themselves segregated from and and ignorant of the rest of the world: The holier than thous and the elitist. This election was crucial.
There is the attempt to make entitlement a dirty word. If a person works 45 years, some 14 percent of that person’s gross wages or salary was withheld each of 2,340 weeks. It is the equivalent of an individual layaway plan held in trust by our government. It is ours, we paid for it. These are privately and individually owned accounts which do not fit the definition of socialism.
Definitions should be checked before words are thrown around. Anything else our government has set up by our representatives for our benefit is our business and no one else’s. All that is needed is proper equity in wages and salaries to sustain it. That and proper taxes all around.
