Duo to play light classical at temple

The Island Now

The entire community is invited to attend a light classical concert given by talented sisters Anat Malkin Almani on violin and viola and Bracha Malkin on violin on Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. at Temple Sinai at 425 Roslyn Road in Roslyn Heights.

Founded in 1995, the Malkin Duo found itself a winner of the Artist International Auditions.  Their sold-out debut recital in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall brought rave reviews.  The duo is also the winner of the 2003 Trinity Concert Series Auditions, which entitled them to a recital in St. Paul’s Chapel at Ground Zero in New York.

Since their debut, the duo has given recitals all over the world.

In his book entitled “Violin Virtuosos from Paganini to the 21st Century,” Henry Roth named both Anat and Bracha as two of the “gifted young violinists who are among the vanguard leading the march of violin art into the 21st century.” Critics have said of their playing that “not only can such interpretation/insight bring momentary joy to the listener; it will leave a footprint in his soul.”

The Malkin Duo has an expansive repertoire, including works for both two violins and works for violin and viola.  In addition to their regular concert schedule, Anat and Bracha are actively involved in community outreach and educational programs, performing annually in various venues.

The concert is part of Temple Sinai’s Light Classical Concert Series.  All are welcome, there is no charge.

Temple Sinai of Roslyn is located at 425 Roslyn Road, Roslyn Heights, NY.  For more information about the program, please contact Ethel Liebeskind at 516-621-6800 or visit our website at www.mysinai.org.
