Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso participated in the joint Assembly and Senate legislative budget hearing on environmental conservation.

“I am an ardent environmentalist and do not want to see budget cuts which will cause harm to our environment,” said D’Urso, a member of the New York State Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee.

Lawmakers questioned New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos about issues involving the banning of single use plastic bags and about expanding the state’s bottle bill to also include sports drinks and other containers which currently are not required to have a five-cent deposit, among other issues affecting our environment.

This hearing was the first of 13 on New York state’s budget. Other hearing will include transportation, education, economic development and taxes.
