AARP Driver’s Safety Course at Parkville

An AARP Driver’s Safety Course will be held on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell St., off Lakeville Road, in New Hyde Park. This is a refresher driving course for drivers ages 50 and over for reduction in points or discount on insurance. This is a six-hour class; bring your lunch. Engrave a Personalized Gift for Dad at Main Library STEM Lab

Engrave a personalized gift for dad on Saturday, June 8 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 3 and 5:00 p.m. in the Main Library STEM Lab, 159 Bayview Ave. No experience necessary. Registration preferred. If space is available walk-ins are welcome on a first come, first served basis. Projects should take about 15 to 30 minutes to both design and print. A New Argentina with Serenade Duo at Main: Flutist Michelle LaPorte and Guitarist Gerry Saulter arranged by the Great Neck Library’s Music Advisory Committee

A New Argentina, performed by Serenade Duo, flutist Michelle LaPorte and guitarist Gerry Saulter, explores the expressive artistry of flute and guitar chamber music by contemporary Argentine composers, on Sunday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Library’s Community Room, 159 Bayview Ave. In addition to honoring the legacy of Astor Piazzolla as the Father of Tango Nuevo, this program includes flute and guitar works by notable 21st century composers Maximo Diego Pujol and Jose Luis Merlin who continue to transform the musical landscape of Argentina and beyond.

Sun Safety and Protection at Parkville presented by Dr. Penny Stern, Northwell Health

Dr. Penny Stern of Northwell Health will present a program about Sun Safety and Protection on Tuesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at the Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell St., off Lakeville Road, in New Hyde Park. There are risks associated with the sun. This talk explores two key sun-related problems: skin cancer and dehydration, and provides tips to keep safe and healthy in the sun.

Sustainability for the Home Gardener at Main presented by Kathy Gaffney, Cornell Co-op Extension

Master gardener Kathy Gaffney will look at how the home gardener can incorporate sustainable gardening practices in their home gardening on Tuesday, June 11 at 2 p.m. in the Main Library Community Room, 159 Bayview Ave. Gaffney does programs for Cornell Cooperative Extension and is a member of the Nassau County Tree Advisory Board.

The Board of Trustees will hold a finance committee meeting on Wednesday, June 12 at
