Classics on stage at Emanuel

The Island Now

The eighth season of Stephen C. Widom Cultural Arts at Emanuel continues on Tuesday evening, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m., when Rinaldo Toglia and Alicia Alexander offer songs from Broadway and Operatic areas in addition to a special tribute to Frank Sinatra.

Rinaldo Toglia’s romantic tenor voice has brought him great success on both
operatic stages and in popular solo venues. Often referred to as “The King of the High C’s,” his voice has been heard throughout the nation in innumerable
regional companies in roles ranging from Rodolpho in “La Boheme” to “Calif in
Turandot.”

Equally at home with classical as well as cross-over music, Rinaldo is a popular guest artist in many resorts throughout the country, and his night club act has been showcased at New York’s famous cabaret clubs including Feinstein’s and Birdland. Soprano Alicia Alexander’s operatic roles include Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” Flotow’s “Martha,” Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Lehar’s “The Merry Widow.”

She has performed the roles of Marguerite in “Faust,” Rosalinda in “Die Fledermaus,” Gilda in “Rigoletto,” Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni” and both Mimi and Musetta in “La Boheme.” She has sung at West End Gate and Lincoln Center in New York City.
