A day of free dental care — and Donald Duck — for children

The Island Now

Passes Dental Care has been working with North Hempstead residents and the surrounding communities for over 40 years. For the second year in a row, during National Children’s Dental Health Month, they wanted to give back to the community by teaming up with the Head Start Program in Manhasset and give the children a day of free dentistry.

It wasn’t just about giving smiles to the children and their families, it was educating them and getting involved. Dr. Harvey Passes allowed the children to have a day of dentistry without worry or stress by using entertainment and making himself sound like Donald Duck to distract the children as they were seated in the dental chair.

When the children were asked about their visit, one child stated “This is really cool. And this is the best thing that has ever happened.” Passes Dental Care provided a service to the children that is needed and was entertaining for the children. Between dancing in the waiting room to baby shark with the staff and being educated on their oral health, the children left the dental office with a memorable experience.

Since February celebrates National Children’s Dental Health Month, Passes Dental Care and the Head Start Program couldn’t have found a more fun and inspiring way to do that.

“We look forward to working with (them) again in the future. It’s always a pleasure,” said Passes Dental Care. “We’re happy to continue getting feedback that the kids are enjoying brushing their teeth.”
