The body of a woman found in a car in Syosset early Tuesday has been identified as Jasmine Joseph, a New York Institute of Technology student who had been missing since late February, police said.

Police said Joseph, 22, apparently committed suicide by breathing in noxious fumes. Her gray 2012 Nissan Altima was found in a parking lot near her family’s home.

No foul play was suspected, police said.

Joseph had been missing since Feb. 24 after leaving home to attend classes at NYIT’s Old Westbury campus.

Police said Joseph called her family at 5:45 p.m. to say she was studying at the college’s library and had not been seen or heard from since.

According to reports, NYIT officials said Joseph had not attended classes since last spring despite still being enrolled at the school.

After Joseph went missing, her family started a Facebook page seeking tips about her whereabouts that at press time had received 7,743 likes.

A $5,000 reward for information leading to Joseph’s return had also been offered.
