NXT GEN Fitness & Performance Training is teaming up with NCSA Athletic Recruiting to host Proving Ground, an event that gives high school athletes exposure to scouts and recruiters.

The event is free and takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 9 at NXT GEN’s facility at 2 Channel Drive in Port Washington.

John Cirilo, director of NXT GEN Fitness & Performing Training, said Proving Ground will offer high school athletes a local alternative to attending sport camps where they might be seen by collegiate coaches

“The Proving Ground platform is one of the few college recruiting sites coaches use,” Cirilo said. “The goal is to give athletes who want to play at the college level as much exposure as possible.”

Cirilo said athletes and their families are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before their registered start time, with their gym shoes and workout clothes, as well as the desire to “Bring it.”

Drills include jumping, sprinting, multidirectional movement and endurance.

The scores will then be verified by Parisi Speed School, a nationwide athletic organization,  and posted on the NCSA Athletic Recruiting site.

Athletes will receive feedback on how to improve performance, and learn about opportunities to train at the Parisi Speed School, which according to the company has produced more than 150 National Football League athletes, as well as first-round draft picks in almost every single sport including gold and silver medalists.

Parisi Speed School, which is based on Wyckoff, N.J., has more than 90 locations in 33 states and trained more than 650,000 individuals, according to the company’s website.

During the event, parents can attend a 30-minute seminar on college recruiting and athletic scholarships.

The Port Washington facility will host another free Proving Ground event in the coming months, giving athletes time to improve their physiological potential before they test again.

While the event is free, there is a fee to post the statistics NCSA’s site.

According to its web site, the NCSA Athletic Recruiting mission is to empower leaders through sports utilizing cutting edge technology, a network of solid relationships, and a passionate team of experts to help athletes reach their full potential.

The organization said it has helped more than 60,000 student athletes reach the next level and receive more than $4 billion in scholarships, aid and grants.

The organization hosts more than 2,000 recruiting seminars at camps, combines and high schools every year, and 90 percent of their student athletes have committed to play college athletics in 25 different sports.

Preregistration for Proving Ground is required and available at https://provinggroundcombinenxtgen.eventbrite.com.
