The Art Guild of Port Washington invites adults to their first “Art Lab Open House” on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the instructors, tour the studios and enjoy hands-on art workshops and demonstrations. The New Year is a natural time to start a new hobby or try something new.

“The Art Guild welcomes artists of all levels,” said Executive Director of The Art Guild Lisa Grossman. “The Art Lab Open House will offer hands-on workshops so interested visitors can try different mediums and techniques such as drawing, painting, portraiture, colored pencil and more. If you’ve ever thought about taking a class but weren’t sure where to begin – or if a specific technique is right for you – then this afternoon will help you decide.”

The event is free for adults and will feature mini-workshops developed by The Art Guild’s team of instructors. Guests may select as many stations as they wish, time permitting. All materials will be provided.

Registration for winter/spring classes and workshops at the Art Guild is now open. There is an “Art Explorations” class for kids between the ages of five and eight on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:45 p.m. or Saturdays from 9:45-11 a.m. For kids from ages 8-12, there is a Solving Art class on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Children’s Art Studio on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Middle school and high school students may enjoy Intro to Digital Art with Photoshop or Portfolio Development and Advanced Studio. The former class takes place Wednesdays from 5-6:30 p.m., while the latter occurs on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m.
