When you walk into Adelphi University’s Swirbul Library, you’ll see more than the perfect place for students to study and take advantage of shelves full of literature.

Right at the entrance is an exhibit dedicated to Alice Hoffman ’73. Hoffman is a distinguished author with books that inspired movies such as Practical Magic and Aquamarine.

The exhibit will run through Dec. 1. It includes posters of the movies that came from her books, drafts of published books, plays, and posters of Hoffman herself. These materials recognize an alumna whose work has touched millions of people.

Adelphi’s Swirbul Library is open seven days a week. See its website for hours.

In 2015, Hoffman donated her archive to Adelphi. Many of her papers such as literary manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, audio-visual materials, personal papers, printed matter and promotional material are available online at libraries.adelphi.edu
