16 Northwell hospitals recognized for outstanding care

Sixteen Northwell Health hospitals have been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for having received a Get With The Guidelines Performance Achievement Award and cited in the 2018 “Best Hospitals” edition of U.S. News & World Report.

Achievement awards demonstrate each hospital’s commitment to following guidelines that improve patient outcomes. Consistent adherence to up-to-date, evidence-based treatment guidelines has been shown to have a tangible impact on patients’ lives.

Receiving the “Get With The Guidelines– Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award” are: Glen Cove Hospital, Huntington Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center in New Hyde Park, Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Forest Hills, Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Valley Stream, Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset, Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, Plainview Hospital, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and Syosset Hospital.

To receive the Gold Plus Achievement award, these hospitals are recognized for two or more consecutive calendar years of 85 percent or higher adherence on all achievement measures applicable and 75 percent or higher adherence with additional select quality measures in stroke care. 

In addition to the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, Glen Cove, Lenox Hill, NSUH, Northern Westchester, Peconic Bay, Phelps, Southside, SIUH and Syosset received “Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll” recognition. To receive honor roll status, these hospitals are recognized for at least a year of 75 percent or higher achievement of door-to-needle times within 60 minutes and 50 percent achievement of door-to-needle times within 45 minutes in applicable stroke patients. Huntington, Mather, LIJ Medical Center, LIJ Forest Hills, LIJ Valley Stream and Plainview achieved “Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll” status.

Southside Hospital also received the “STEMI: Gold Receiving Performance Achievement Award,” recognizing the hospital for two consecutive calendar years of 85 percent or higher composite adherence to all STEMI receiving performance achievement indicators and 75 percent or higher compliance on each performance measure. 

Cohen Children’s Medical Center was recognized with the “Get With The Guideline – Resuscitation Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award,” recognizing the hospital for two or more consecutive calendar years of 85 percent or higher adherence on all achievement measures applicable and 75 percent or higher adherence with additional select quality measures in resuscitation.
