Young Israel of Great Neck to honor two Kensington couples

The Island Now

Michele and Howard Schatz and Lynne and Nessim Tammam, both of Kensington, Great Neck, will be guests of honor at the 43rd Annual Dinner of the Young Israel of Great Neck on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 8 p.m.

Almost immediately after moving to Great Neck 15 years ago, Michele and Howard Schatz joined Young Israel of Great Neck and have been active and devoted members of the synagogue and community since.

Michele Schatz has served on the Great Neck Activities Committee, board of trustees, and currently serves on the Young Israel Welcome Committee and New Baby Committee, where she helps provide meals for new parents and their families.

Michele and Howard Schatz have three children: Stephanie, Michael and Rebecca.

When Nessim and Lynne Tammam moved to Great Neck 27 years ago, they found in Young Israel a place of Jewish learning, spirituality, love for Israel and Zionism. Nessim has served as V.P. of House for six years and Lynne is proud to say that she served as Chairperson of Youth when Young Israel had a fledgling youth program.

After moving into the community, the Tammams created a Simchat Torah celebration that has welcomed the entire Jewish Community to celebrate together and helped bring the Jewish Community into the Great Neck Memorial Day Parade where they have headed the Young Israel representation.

Lynne and Nessim Tammam’s involvement also extends outside of Young Israel, with Lynne Tammam serving as a board member of the Long Island chapter of the Zionist Organization of America.

Together they have four children: Nina, Avi, Miriam and Samara.

Young Israel of Great Neck is thrilled to honor both of the couples and their families.
