The Great Neck Alert Fire Company installed a new set of officers for the Great Neck Alert Junior Firefighters at the company headquarters, marking the first time in history that all the group’s officers are all women.
The new officers for 2019 are Captain Julia Motchkavitz, 1st Lt. Maya Garfinkel; 2nd Lt. Lauren Murphy, Recording Secretary Abigail Garcia, and Financial Secretary Alexandra Kessler.
The Junior Firefighters program is for young adults between the ages of 12 and 17. They meet twice a month and receive training in First Aid, CPR, fire safety and participate in other firefighting drills and activities.
