The Thomaston Village Board of Trustees on Monday approved the future purchase of a new vehicle for village use.

The village code enforcer currently uses a 2003 Ford Escape that is in need of repair, village officials said. The board of trustees authorized that $25,000 be taken from the village’s truck fund to purchase a new Ford or Jeep.

The village will keep the Ford Escape until the new vehicle is purchased and “then decide what to do with it,” whether the village will repair or sell the older vehicle, said Village of Thomaston Mayor Robert Stern.

In other village news, Village Clerk Barbara Daniels swore in trustees Steven Weinberg and Gary Noren, who were both re-elected to their seats on the governing body this past March. Each candidate received 42 votes.

The next village meeting will be on Monday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m.
