The Village of New Hyde Park held its Annual Tree Lighting on Dec. 7. The afternoon started with a magic show provided by “The Magic of Amore,” followed by Christmas music by “The New Hyde Park Memorial High School Chamber Singers” and selected members of the concert band.

At the direction of the “American Legion,” the American flag was raised to full staff at sunset as the National Anthem was sung. This was done to mark the 78th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Santa Claus arrived by firetruck and helped Mayor Montrieul light the Christmas Tree on the lawn of Village Hall.

The whole event was sponsored by “The Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce” and “The New Hyde Park Lions Club.”
