Veterans Day parade in G.N.

A Veterans Day parade will be begin at the Great Neck Alert fire house at 555 Middle Neck Road at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.
Louise McCann, commander of The American Legion Charles A. Fowler, Jr. Post #160, has commanded the parade for the last three years, according to a press release from Suzette A. Gray, legislative aide to Town Councilwoman Lee R. Seeman.
The parade is also under the auspices of the Gilliar-Norwill Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #372, United States Merchant Marine Academy, and Great Neck Alert and Vigilant fire companies.
“We must never forget that our freedoms are preserved by the fighting men and women of our military,”McCann said.  “It is important for us to remember the heroism of those who have served our nation and those who continue to serve.”
As prescribed by law, the service is always held at 11 a.m. on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
The parade will proceed north to the Village Green, where a short ceremony will be held at the Wall of Remembrance located at the north end of the Green.  
Marchers will include members of the Great Neck Alert and Vigilant fire companies, along with our elected officials and members of the Great Neck Boy and Girl Scouts.
