Houseplants as Pets – All Purpose Room 2nd Floor and Virtual Monday, February 28 at 2 p.m. In-person and zoom: We love animals and the joys they bring us! Yet houseplants can provide similar mood boosting benefits: Greenery can keep your indoor air cleaner, and seeing and nuturing houseplants can help you feel more serene and connected to nature. Find out about the most popular house plants – and how they can increase your calmness, cheerfulness, and optimism.

Refresh Your Resume Tuesday, March 1and Thursday, March 3, 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Meet with a librarian, by appointment, either virtually or in person, to get feedback on ways to update and refresh your resume.

Craft Corner – All Purpose Room – 2nd Floor Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. Join us at the library to create a beautiful craft to decorate your home. A $5 materials fee will be collected at the start of the program. This program is for adults only. Registration is required to attend this program.

Classic Book Discussion – Virtual Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert; “Madame Bovary tells the gloomy story of a marriage that ends in tragedy. Charles Bovary, a good-hearted but dull and unambitious doctor with a meagre practice, marries Emma, a beautiful farm girl raised in a convent. Although she anticipates marriage as a life of adventure, she grows increasingly bored and unhappy with her middle-class existence, and even the birth of their daughter, Berthe, brings Emma little joy.”

Filling Our Hearts with Love Through Meditation – Virtual Thursday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. Join Arvind Naik as he explains and demonstrates the practice of meditation to transform the heart. Learn how to let go of anger, fear and worry in order to create more harmonious relationships, improve work and home environments, and experience a deep sense of personal peace and love. *This program is brought to you courtesy of Nassau Libraries Health Share.

Meditation for Dealing with the Stress of Modern Life – Virtual Program Friday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. The ancient tradition of meditation has become even more valuable for people of our modern times. There are many benefits that come from meditation on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. During this engaging workshop you will learn a simple time-tested technique and even have the chance to try this out!

SEED LIBRARY at Hillside Library Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 marks the opening weekend for the Seed Library. Visit the library on opening weekend to borrow some seeds and you could win one of our Seed Library raffle prizes. Run, Run, Run as Fast as You Can! You Can’t Catch Me- I’m the LEGO Gingerbread Man!! Thursday, March 3 at 4:30 p.m. Ages: 4 years- 7 years. Children will learn about Engineering, Designing, and Planning of Structures. Create your very own LEGO Gingerbread Man that you can build & decorate to bring home! Location: All Purpose Room, 2nd Floor.
