Friday, October 8 at 7 pm. Join us for a fascinating discussion of the paranormal with noted author, L’Aura Hladik Hoffman, founder and director of the NJ Ghost Hunters Society. Ghosts, urban legends, Ouija boards, crop circles, and monsters; there’s sure to be something to scare you out of your socks!

The Deep Fall Garden – Both In-person and Virtual Program Tuesday, October 12 at 2 p.m. Horticulturist Paul Levine, aka Pauley the Plant Guy, will present plants to brighten your fall landscape. Paul will discuss indoor and outdoor mums, ornamental cabbage, kale, peppers, pansies, fall sedum, and many more. Free & open to all.

2022 Medicare Updates and Options – Virtual Program Tuesday October 12 at 6:30 p.m. The Nassau County Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) is offering an informative session before open enrollment begins October 15 (ends December 7), if you want to make changes to your 2022 plan! Nassau County Property Tax Exemption Workshop – Location: All Purpose Room – 2nd Floor
Wednesday, October 13: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. **Appointments required**. To make an appointment, visit the Department of Assessment’s website homepage at www.nassaucountyny.gov/Assessment You can also call the Department of Assessment’s customer service line at (516) 571-1500 to make an appointment or visit the Department of Assessment’s office located at 240 Old Country Road in Mineola from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for further assistance. Nassau County Department of Assessment staff will be on hand to provide instructions on how to properly fill out the various property tax exemption applications available to Nassau County residents. *As part of New York State’s Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program, Enhanced STAR recipients are no longer required to file a renewal application with the Department of Assessment. The state will verify STAR income eligibility and contact applicants if additional information is needed.*First-time/new homeowner Basic and Enhanced STAR applicants must register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for the credit/check program by telephone at (518) 457-2036 or on-line at https://www8.tax.ny.gov/STRP/strpStart. Book Discussion: Fresh Fiction Book Club – This program will take place both in person and virtual. Join Libby Copeland for a lively and informative discussion about genetic genealogy, consumer DNA testing, and the search for family history.Explore the extraordinary cultural phenomenon of home DNA testing, which is redefining family history. It will draw on Libby Copeland’s years of research for her new book The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Who We Are, which The Wall Street Journal calls “a fascinating account of lives dramatically affected by genetic sleuthing.”

A Gathering of Ghosts! – Virtual Program
Friday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Scary stories ahead! Professional magician, psychic, and ghost hunter Ron Cain sheds light on famous hauntings and spooky places. Hear ghostly tales from around the world and around the block. Learn about the six types of hauntings, how spirits manifest themselves, and why they come back. Develop ghost hunting skills as you learn how to investigate haunted places. Information sheets will be made available to participants.

Cauldron of Spooky Science with Johnda Ferarri (Outside- Parking Lot) Thursday, October 14 at 5 pm. Grades: 2-4. Oozing, bubbling, creepy science fun!
