To make an appointment, visit the Department of Assessment’s website homepage at www.nassaucountyny.gov/Assessment You can also call the Department of Assessment’s customer service line at (516) 571-1500 to make an appointment or visit the Department of Assessment’s office located at 240 Old Country Road in Mineola from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for further assistance. Nassau County Department of Assessment staff will be on hand to provide instructions on how to properly fill out the various property tax exemption applications available to Nassau County residents. *As part of New York State’s Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program, Enhanced STAR recipients are no longer required to file a renewal application with the Department of Assessment. The state will verify STAR income eligibility and contact applicants if additional information is needed.*First-time/new homeowner Basic and Enhanced STAR applicants must register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for the credit/check program by telephone at (518) 457-2036 or on-line at https://www8.tax.ny.gov/STRP/strpStart. A Gathering of Ghosts! – Virtual Program
Friday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Scary stories ahead! Professional magician, psychic, and ghost hunter Ron Cain sheds light on famous hauntings and spooky places. Hear ghostly tales from around the world and around the block. Learn about the six types of hauntings, how spirits manifest themselves, and why they come back. Develop ghost hunting skills as you learn how to investigate haunted places. Information sheets will be made available to participants.
